Eyuel Mengistu is an Ethiopian composer, music producer, arranger, educator, and researcher whose work explores the richness of Ethiopian music and its connections with contemporary musical practices. Through teaching, field research, creative production, and performance, he works to document, develop, and share Ethiopia’s diverse musical traditions.

FROM THE FIELD TO THE STAGE
The project “From the field to the Stage” is an initiative began in 2022, spearheaded by musician Eyuel Mengistu as part of his academic thesis with a significant collaborative effort with the talented Ethiopian singer YEMa. Together, they embarked on a mission to explore and document neglected musical traditions, including the music of the Gamo people from the south. Read more
